Sales of motorhomes has risen rapidly in Sweden, and so have accidents where motorhomes have been involved. The Swedish traffic authority Trafikverket decided to test new motorhomes with crash test dummies to find out if these vehicles were as unsafe as they suspected. The results are bad. Mercedes-Benz wants to be ready in the EV market in all categories sooner rather than later. The German automaker introduced the Concept EQV van in early March 2019 as a concept, but confirmed it is going to production soon- likely by the end of 2019. A German entrepreneur has created an innovative product, Plugvan, that can turn an empty cargo van into a campervan in five minutes. Plugvan is a smallish container that includes the essentials of what makes a van a place to stay and travel. Nissan has introduced an electric campervan e-NV200 in Europe (in Spain in early June 2018) that the company says will be available for summer 2018. Nissan Iberia urges people who have been waiting for an electric camper van to contact a Nissan dealer for customizing a road trip vehicle for them.

For years, we have heard rumours about Apple’s ambitions on creating an electric vehicle. According to The New York Times that has received confidential information from a number of Apple managers, many serious attempts to design an Apple vehicle, or manufacture one with an auto-industry partner have been discarded. Instead of its own car and design, Apple has now partnered with Volkswagen to manufacture an electric van for Apple from the Transporter T6 van.
