Mercedes-Benz wants to be ready in the EV market in all categories sooner rather than later. The German automaker introduced the Concept EQV van in early March 2019 as a concept, but confirmed it is going to production soon- likely by the end of 2019. The battery capacity, power output and available passenger/cargo space make it a van that is ready for road trips as well.

Having a compact campervan means more work when setting it up for a night. Many things have to be detached, re-attached, assembled or disassembled to turn the vehicle’s living area into a kitchen and bedroom. Large campervans or motorhomes have more space and features are always ready to use. Mercedes-Benz is envisioning a future for campervans where beds, kitchen and other features can be organized with the help of computers and voice control.

A cabin for the Mercedes pickup truck turns it into a small motorhome

Ever since I read My Travels with Charley: in Search of America by John Steinbeck I wanted to know how the author converted his pickup truck into a campervan. Well, in the US, it was possible to buy a readymade cabin on a pickup truck. Now, a company in Germany is making cabins especially for European and Japanese pickup trucks. The latest model fits on a Mercedes Class X pickup, turning it into a small motorhome.
