These countries are the favorite destinations of residents in each U.S. state

What do people living Alabama and West Virginia have in common? Probably many things, but one of them is their desire to travel to Spain. During my journeys, I have noticed that travelers who come from relatively small countries that have their own language often can speak foreign languages very well. Perhaps the explanation is that no one else outside the borders of the country can speak their language, so they have to learn foreign languages. Language institute EF has measured how well people across the world understand English, and the results seem to reflect my small country theory to a certain extent.

Safety doesn’t mean boring: the safest cities in the world 2017 are exciting travel destinations

A safe travel destination doesn’t mean it is a boring place. On the contrary, if we take a look at the Economist Intelligence Unit’s ranking for the world’s safest cities in 2017, for instance, Amsterdam has a fairly large red light district with cannabis caf├ęs in the city center, but it still is the sixth safest city in the world. The safest city in the world is Japan’s capital Tokyo.
